We start our tour on 44th Street and Queens Boulevard in Sunnyside, Queens, just 10 subway stops away from Times Square.
Note the Empire State Building in the background. The elevated subway, the "el" is the number 7 line. Spiderman the movie was filmed in this neighborhood during the summer of 2002. There is cute website about some of the scenes here.
The north side of 44th Street was renamed Jason M Sekzer Memorial Place to honor a young man killed in the World Trade Center attack of 2001.
Note the local stationery store on the corner. They are selling New Year's hats and horns, trying to catch the locals before they hit Manhattan.
