What is most likely the most famous bakery for those families who lived in the Second Ward, or Segundo Barrio, is the Bowie Bakery (photographed left). Generations of El Paso folk have made the drive downtown to buy sweet bread once they have left the barrio.
Be prepared to wait on line on busy days! Do the people of El Paso, Texas get up on a Sunday morning, jump on a horse and ride to the bakery for their Sunday morning donuts? Heck, no, they jump in their trucks! |
