This is one of the graceful red granite urns located in Central Park at the north end of Literary Walk. These urns are based on ancient Greek shapes. They stand on stone pedastals throughout the plaza in front of the Naumburg Bandshell.

Granite is one of the oldest, most durable and most respected of building materials. Traditionally, it is the material chosen by both architects and engineers when permanence, enduring color and texture, and complete freedom from deterioration and maintenance are prime requirements. And granite is ageless--always contemporary.
