The Next Hot Cocktail In NYC - The Rebujito - Originating in Spain, where it has caught on slowly over the past few years, the Rebujito's recipe changes from region to region in Spain. But one thing about this Spanish-born drink is constant: it wants to be a healthy alternative to the alcohol and sugar-heavy drinks that have been so popular for the past few years. In southern Spain, a Rebujito is equal parts Fino and Sprite. For an extra kick, bartenders make them with fresh lemon juice. They're in season during the summer, so the quality of the vitamins is highest. Stir up a batch in a jug, add cracked ice cubes and load it with summer fruits -- it turns into a Spanish Pimm's. Crushed strawberries will increase the vitamin B and C content. Blueberries, with their enormous antioxidant content, will confer anti-aging goodness. Stir in some bashed-up cherries to benefit from their anti-inflammatory effect and a few slices of apples; they contain quercitin, another anti-inflammatory, which helps with allergies, as well as malic acid, which can smooth your energy levels.
