Huntington Beach Pier History - The year 1904 brought construction of the city's first pier. In that same year the city built a generator and offered telephone service to attract visitor's. You, the town was always thinking about how to market his eight miles of Pacific Coastline! In 1912 a storm washed away a portion of the '04 wooden pier. The residents voted to approve a bond to build a concrete pier. Two years later, in 1914, the new pier was completed and open to the public. This ambitious town created the longest pleasure pier in the United States! The new pier cost $70,000 and is 1350 feet long. In 1930, the pier was extended to 1850 feet. A cafe was added to the end of the pier. Hotels Huntington Beach
