Pinot Noir: Smooth and silky Pinot Noir is more known for its elegance rather than its power. The pinot noir is the base grape of the great red wines of the Burgundy region of France. Wine tasters report flavors of strawberry, raspberry and cherry in young wines, with the wine becoming more earthy as the wine matures. Outside of Burgundy, Pinot Noir grows well in cooler climate areas of New Zealand, Australia, California and Oregon.
Zinfandel: A native of California and almost wholly American, Zinfandel is a big, heartwarming wine with full flavors of blackberry, blueberry and spice. The wines tend to be ripe and high in alcohol, but many find it very easy to drink. |
