American Actor Steve McQueen

Among these objects were McQueen's personal pair of Persol sunglasses (pictured below, from the auction site).

This pair of sunglasses sold for $70,200 at the Fall 2006 auction in Los Angeles, California. The blue-tinted Persol shades, worn by the actor in 1968 movie The Thomas Crown Affair. The auction house estimated the sunglasses might draw between $2- and $3,000. Wow!

Persol's founder, Giuseppe Ratti developed a yellow tinted crystal-based lens that provided clarity and safety for the daredevils. He invented a goggle called, "The Protector."
