Polo Ralph Lauren is also halfway through its four year sponsorship deal of the US Open.
David Lauren, the senior vice president of advertising, marketing and corporate communications for Ralph Lauren, said: "We are thrilled to have Boris on board with Wimbledon, and proud to continue our partnership with this historic sporting event."
Wimbledon is also considered to be one of the premiere social occasions for the sport of tennis elite fans and corporate sponsors. Wimbledon's tennis courts are made of grass. They courts are lush and green at the start of the event, but by the end of the tournament, only the edges have grass remaining. |
Meanwhile, Polo is expanding to Europe, with 50 to 60 store openings planned worldwide in the next five years. It is also developing its home line further; in April, it opened a 14,000-square-foot showroom for interior designers in New York. From luggage to perfume to a restaurant, the Lauren brand is on almost everything. Hilfiger isn't far behind, with his name on everything from dolls to sunglasses to bedding. It's probably only a matter of time before consumers have to choose between painting their bedroom walls Polo Mallet White or Tommy Red. |
