Elton John revels in the love from his fans (continued from top)

Elton John feels comfortable in many places. Among them near the top of the list is New York City's Madison Square Garden. He chose this concert venue (which calls itself "world's most famous arena") to throw himself his 60th birthday party in 2007. In the photo to the left, Sir Elton revels in applause as confetti floats from on high.

It is no surprise, given Elton's love for glitz, glamour and spectacle that his New York City party would be a multi-day, multi-venue extravaganza. There were fan-based events (fans only, no celebrities), and then there was the invitation Only Events. On Friday night, the night before the big 60th Birthday Party, the party was held at the Cathedral of St John the Divine. This is a very progressive congregation and is a NYC landmark. It is the largest cathedral in North America.

About Elton John

Elton John is a piano player and songwriter. He was born as Reginald Kenneth Dwight in 1947 in England.

He met lyricist Bernie Taupin in 1966 and within a few years, they were one of music's premiere composition partners specializing in pop music.
