Guests would enter the banquet hall or convention center and say wow! as they observe the room filled with table after table of floating centerpieces. And even today, that is a very cool effect and should not in any way be considered passé. Brides can still opt for this style for their wedding reception. It's a great way to get balloons into the event without the larger expense of balloon sculptures.

Balloon sculptures are much more of pieces of art than most people stop to consider. Archways at weddings are technically a little bit about creativity and a little bit about engineering, but overall, it's not like reinventing the wheel. True balloon sculpting is an art form, where the client comes to the artist, describes their needs and interests and the balloon artist fashions the installation.

Pictured on the left is an example of a balloon sculpture for a birthday party. Simple in structure, this piece of balloon art is technically beautiful. The lines are extraordinarily clean and the overall effect is simple and effective. [The sign kinda sucks and ruins it a bit, but you get the idea.]

This piece uses a simple two color scheme: white (simulating headstone marble) and black for the flowers. If the cheesey "Over the Hill" sign was not on this piece, it would take a nut to conclude that this was balloon headstone art.

This piece of balloon sculpture was probably created for a birthday party with a black and white theme, hence the choice of colors for the flowers as being black. Without the restrictions of the party's color scheme, these flowers should have been in more vibrant flower-like colors of red, pink, purple and orange. Or the multi color rainbow balloons that are now so fashionable and popular.
