Carrie Bradshaw's Paris Eiffel Tower Handbag for the Sex in the City Movie

From her Dior Saddle to her bejeweled Judith Leiber bird, Carrie Bradshaw's accessories put her firmly on the fashion map, while the rest of us wondered enviously how on earth she paid for them.

Now she's back with a spanking new selection. As the first pictures from "Sex and the City: The Movie" emerged, fashion fans weren't studying the body language between Carrie and Big, they were homing in on her sparkling Eiffel Tower purse and wondering where she got it. The answer is the Beverly Hills boutique Timmy Woods. Patricia Field visited the store in person to find the perfect purse for Carrie's big-screen debut, says bag designer Woods, whose Horse and Telephone bags were toted in the HBO series. "She also picked out my Monkeys and Palm Trees purse," adds Woods, hinting, perhaps, at the movie's Mexico segment.

More than 3,000 Swarovski crystals were added to the original $338 Eiffel Tower design to create the Carrie-worthy, $2,500 Paris-themed showpiece. "The Eiffel Tower purse is perfectly in keeping with her idiosyncratic image," says Barneys New York creative director Simon Doonan, whose new book, "Eccentric Glamour" pays tribute to style daredevils.

But beyond the ooh-la-la outlandishness, Carrie's kooky tote clearly has a tale to tell. Carrie's trip to France in the HBO show's finale was a mixed bag. Before Big showed up, she'd started smoking again, missed her own book party and got slapped in the face by the odious Aleksandr.

Yet, here she is, carrying a reminder of her Parisian misadventures. Is it less about baggage and more about the Bradshaw badge of honor? "Carrie is a resilient character," says Doonan. "This purse could be her way of taking back the city." And taking back the spotlight, suggests Judith Waters, psychology professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. "It's an attention-getting mechanism," says Waters, adding that even if Carrie's trip to France wasn't perfect, there's no reason to shun the City of Light. "It's not Paris' fault the trip went bad."

In the winter of 1959, Holly and several other members of a touring rock show boarded a small plane in Iowa to reach their next concert town quickly. The plane crashed into the mountains after traveling for 8 miles. All on board were killed.

In the 1970s, musician Don McLean wrote and recorded a song titled, "American Pie" which, in cryptic verse, lays down a long series of reflections, missives and misgivings over the trail of musicality following the death of Buddy Holly. The verse repeats, "The Day the Music Died," with Buddy Holly positioned in the song as the "Music."
