Outdoor Parties
Aside from a birthday party given to you by a Hollywood celebrity that includes 1000 of your closest and richest friends, there are few things better than outdoor parties. We love 'em. Put up a tent, hire a caterer, some entertainment and a great band. Sprinkle in the warmth of the sun and low humidity and let the good times roll! If you are going to help throw a great outdoor party, then it is best to have a rudimentary understanding of tent types and tent construction. And while we're at it, we'll have a small discussion about the types of stages that work best with these tents as well as the remote sources of electricity needed to keep the lights on, the ice cold and the music pumping! |

Sizes & Options
Tents are available in all sizes beginning from 8' x 8'. This is a very easy to handle, easy to install size for the do-it-yourselfers in the audience. It is a good size for many backyard parties. This size enables the food and ice to be sheltered from the sun and maybe even have enough room left for a lounge chair for Grandma and Grandpa!
A professional party tent supplier will offer you a couple of different materials to use for your rental. Good choices are translucent materials which let light through, or blockout material which offer less light into the tented area. You will also have to choose between the weight of the material, typically either 14 or 16 oz. And then there is the choice of colors, that's self-explanatory.
Two choices exist for the type of anchor used for the tent: rope or ratchet. The ratchet tpe of anchor is easier to use, less elbow grease, but more expensive. Isn't that the way with everything?
Frame types offered could be galvanized single tube construction or aluminum single tubes. Occasionally, some fittings are PVC composition.
If the host or special event planner has preferences for stake size, they will be offered the choice of a 35" stake or a 42" stake.
The addition of sidewalls will also be an option the host might like to exercise. Having sidewalls handy provides extra assurance that the insides of the tent will be dry in the event of rain and wind. |
In their simplest form, you rent a simple frame tent with a nylon roof and cap, erect the poles and stakes into the ground, invite your neighbors over for a barbeque and fire up the grill. After the party is over, you return the tent to the party rental place and that is the end of that.
Not so quick with the most elaborate form of outdoor tent. These are the domain of the corporate crowd at the world's greatest sporting events. The world's most elaborate tents are also reserved for the very wealthy clients to help stage large and important ceremonies, such as weddings, mitzphas, speeches, induction ceremonies, birthday parties, anniversary parties and graduation parties.
For the fanciest event, outdoor tents become full service banquet halls and catering facilities with smaller nearby support services tents for the cooking and serving staffs. These tents can hold as many as 5000 people for a sit down dinner. They make for the most dramatic events on earth!
There are so many benefits to hosting a large event under a rented tent. The event can be held in any suitable location; the host or corporate sponsor simply needs to find a nice flat surface with contiguous land and enough space for parking nearby. If necessary, the special event or party can be replicated again and again in different locations throughout the world, making an outdoor tent an excellent choice for the rollout of a national or international product, service or promotional campaign.
Make sure your special event, party or wedding planner is well connected in the industry with access to all the best professional vendors. You'll want to create the best party of your life!
